BLOG 6 - Post graduate studies

Despite being an actress, pedagogy has always called my interest. Especially, how to teach through dramatic art. I consider that in Chile there is no culture regarding Art and, for me, the possibilities it has in the learning of various subjects such as for the Identity development is critical and very urgent to address.

For the same reason I would like to study a Master of Drama and Theater Education in Ireland. I would like to develop practical skills and theoretical knowledge as a theater educator, especially in school and community settings. My wish is to study abroad, so I could know how the arts are seen in the world from very different perspectives. I would like very much to study the course part-time in person, such as learn about the country and its culture.

This Master's program offers students an in-depth insight into the ways in which drama and theater education can improve teaching and learning in primary, secondary and tertiary education, as well as in applied and communitary settings.

    It would be a phenomenal experience!

BLOG 5 - A Photograph And Its Story

 

Ilha Grande is an island located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I took this photo by myself in the summer of February 2019, when I went on vacations with one of my best friends. This photo shows one of the paradisiacal beaches that this island has, which are known for their transparent waters. This one was kind of a lagoon, because there were other mini islands full of vegetation around it.

That summer day, there were few people on that beach and they were all very happy.

What I like about that moment is that it shows one of the quietest beaches I have ever seen, besides it was also like being in another space. Also, I loved being able to see my feet while swimming, the water had very little swell.

I remember the air on my face, I was very happy at that moment. It was perfect.

BLOG 4 - Themed Post

PLAY: "La Mala Clase"

On this occasion I have chosen the play: “La Mala Clase” by Luis Barrales from 2009, which tells us about the harsh reality of Chilean public schools.

I have chosen this theme because it inspires me. I consider that education is a reflection of what happens in our country, this play has led me to ask me a lot of things, to question my role as an artist, who I want to be within society. Besides being a play that has accompanied me for many years.

It´s a constant reminder that nothing has changed yet, and that keeps me standing, to try to contribute, even if it´s a small grain to the change. It was also one of my biggest inspirations for me to have studied Theater, because it was one of the first plays I did in a school workshop.

It´s also important for me to mention that, with a group of friends, we are working on this play again and I´m very happy with that.

BLOG 3 - My Favorite Piece of Technology

 

My favorite piece of technology is the Tablet, which is like a laptop, bigger than a cellphone, but smaller than a computer. Its main feature is having a touch screen, so you don't need a mouse or keyboard to use it.

I got my Tablet in 2016, it was a Christmas gift from my parents, I wanted one for a very long time. At that time I really liked reading, and that's what I occupied the most of it, it used to have my favorite books, because it was easier to read them online, also I watched videos and movies. it was a discovery. Now I have my homeworks and things like that, because I don't have a computer.

I used it whenever I could, it hypnotized me and I spent a lot of hours occupying it. I like it because it's the perfect combination between a cellphone and a computer, it´s neither too small nor too big, it literally contains a world.

My life without this object would be a mess, I keep everything there, literally, it's like my personal diary that has all my life, maybe I would become a little crazy if I didn't have it.

BLOG 2 - My dream job

Since I was little, I wanted to be many things: Medical examiner, singer, stewardess, even one of that people that just travels around the world. I was always changing in my mind the career that I wanted, until I met the Theatre, where you can be anything and anyone you like, it’s awesome.

When I applied to the career, I had to do an especial audition, I didn’t want to study anything else, I was driven and decided, but I also applied to Film and TV in the case everything went wrong, luckily everything went perfect.

I decided to study this, because it was something I did since I was a little girl, I‘ve always liked it, to tell you the truth it’s something that makes me happy and, looking to the future, I can’t imagine myself doing something else.

The experience I’ve had in college has been pretty intense, but also satisfying in a lot of ways: I’ve meet teachers that are great and friends with whom we have a lot of projects in mind.

In the future I want to perform on the stage, I hope I never have to stop doing it. Also I want to dedicate myself to drama-based pedagogy, in specific to high school students. I also want to try directing a play and travel around the world to learn everything I can.

BLOG 1 - A small part of me: Who am I?

I'm Catalina Rozas, I'm 20 years old and I come from the city of Los Andes, next to the mountain range! Hahaha

I live here with my whole family, we are 5 (Tere, Christian, Cami and Angelito, the youngest. I don't have pets☹️) My mother is a social worker at SENAME and my father always worked in Puerto Terrestre, they both enjoy their jobs.

There is also my grandmother Claribel, I remember that I liked cooking with her when I was little, she is my life anchor, she took care of me since I was 4 months old, she is literally my second mother, I like plants thanks to her.

I study dramatic arts. Since school I liked it and got into workshops, I enjoy it and love it too much. I like to dance, cook and also I'm vegetarian.

As a curious fact, a while ago we started a podcast with a friend, called "Hijas de Virgo", it's very entertaining hahaha.
